ABSTRACT: The Opinion of AG Szpunar in case C-680/21, Royal Antwerp Football Club, concerns the compatibility of certain rules of sporting associations with Article 45 TFEU. The case offers food for thought for EU law scholars with regard in particular to the role played by Article 165 TFEU in free movement cases and the assessment of the suitability of restrictive measures.
