GIULIA AGRATI, After the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies has also approved —introducing further amendments— the “Artificial Intelligence Bill”: does it serve as a complement to, or an obstacle for, the AI Act?

ABSTRACT – After the Senate passed the Italian draft law on the artificial intelligence, on June 25, 2025, the Chamber of Deputies also approved it, with amendments (C. 2316). The text was then sent back to the Senate for a third reading, where it now carries the identifier S. 1146-B. This article traces the legislative path of the Italian draft law, examining the compatibility of the amended text with EU law, also considering the opinion issued by the European Commission on November 4, 2024. Given the recent European regulation on artificial intelligence, this paper not only analyzes the legitimacy of the draft law, but also offers some reflections on the appropriateness of the national measure.
