Istituito nel 2003 per prevenire il c.d. <em>asylum shopping<\/em>, Eurodac \u00e8 ora un sistema multifunzionale che supporta l\u2019identificazione di migranti, richiedenti asilo e persone irregolarmente presenti, perseguendo obiettivi quali l\u2019agevolazione dei rimpatri e il controllo della mobilit\u00e0 all\u2019interno dell\u2019UE. La recente riforma del 2024 ha ampliato ulteriormente l\u2019accesso ai dati raccolti, tra cui impronte digitali e volti, includendo anche minori dai 6 anni in su, e ha introdotto nuove categorie di persone e dati registrabili. Questo cambiamento, integrato nella pi\u00f9 ampia architettura di interoperabilit\u00e0 dell\u2019UE, solleva preoccupazioni per la <em>privacy<\/em> e ha un impatto significativo sui diritti dei migranti, associando sempre pi\u00f9 le persone in movimento a potenziali minacce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract <\/strong><strong>(ENG)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article analyzes the main novelties of the amended Eurodac regulation, adopted in June 2024 together with several legislative instruments of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. Established in 2003 to prevent <em>asylum shopping<\/em>, Eurodac is now a multifunctional system that supports the identification of migrants, asylum seekers, and irregular residents to facilitate repatriation and monitor mobility within the EU. The recent 2024 reform further expanded access to the collected data, including fingerprints and facial images, now also including minors from the age of 6, and introduced new categories of people and registrable data.
