The agreement has been partially in force since 1 May 2026, albeit provisionally. However, the agreement has encountered significant opposition from agricultural sector operators, who claim that it undermines the competitiveness of European businesses, the protection of European consumers\u2019 health and the sustainability objectives set by the European legislator. In light of the agreement\u2019s structure, which is divided into two texts, and these critical issues, the European Parliament considered it essential to seek an advisory opinion from the Court of Justice.
