ABSTRACT – The Equality Package attempts to harmonise rules regarding parenthood in cross-border situations. The Commission’s proposal, explicitly aimed at providing legal clarity for all types of families, fits within the EU’s consolidated support to the LGBTIQ+ community. This piece reflects on the substantive nature of the proposal, especially as regards its legal basis and scope of application.
