ALESSANDRO ROSANÒ, The reform of the law of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta on activities carried out within the framework of policies promoted by the European Union

ABSTRACT – On 7 November 2022, the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta approved Regional Law No. 27 on the Region’s activities in the field of policies promoted by the European Union and international relations. This offers the cue for some thoughts on the participation of the Regions in the European integration process. After briefly outlining the developments that have marked the European Union and Italian experience, Regional Law No. 8/2006, by which Valle d’Aosta originally laid down provisions on European and international activities and relations, as amended by Regional Law No. 27 of 7 November 2022, will be outlined. Subsequently, some reflections will be made in the light of the laws adopted by other Italian Regions regarding their participation in the European Union. The conclusion will be devoted to the need for the involvement of the Regions in the European decision-making process.
